Have you heard about Seattle’s first ever Sustainable Wedding Show?  It’s happening on Sunday, February 25, 2024 and whether you’re already planning to have a green wedding or if you’re not even sure what I’m talking about, this is the place for you!     

Here in the Pacific Northwest, most people are very interested in caring for the environment and make sustainability a priority in their daily lives.  But many couples don’t know that sustainability considerations can play a big role in their wedding day too. In fact, they might be tempted to think “Oh, it doesn’t matter. After all, it’s just one day.”  But the truth is, the average wedding in the United States creates about the same carbon footprint as an entire family does in a year!  And with 2.5 million weddings predicted to occur in 2024, it quickly becomes clear that weddings do, indeed, have a heavy impact on the planet even though they are “just one day”. 

So what’s an eco-conscious couple to do?

Well, if you’re lucky enough to be getting married in the PNW then you can come to Seattle’s first ever Sustainable Wedding Show, presented by Emerald Hour on Sunday, February 25 from 2:30-5:00 at Metropolist in SODO!  

You’re invited to come and learn about how to avoid toxic things like floral foam (sounds harmless but it’s not!), find amazing planners who can help you make sustainable choices, and ooh and aah at the beautiful vignettes created by floral designers (and me!) in almost every area of the show! You’ll find me near the Head Table which will be set with perfectly mismatched vintage dishes and heirloom glassware and silverware, as usual!   

This will not be your typical wedding show, but an afternoon filled with interactive experiences, a fashion show, delicious beverages and bites, gorgeous floral designs you can not only look at but hold and try on, and 30+ expert vendors who are excited about helping you create a wedding that is authentic, beautiful, and sustainable.  

All the vendors are members of Emerald Hour, which is an organization I co-founded that is filled with wedding pros committed to helping couples create greener weddings and events in a no judgement zone filled with expertise, dedication, practical experience, and inspiration. 

Prepare to be amazed by the stunning talent and knowledge of elopement photographers who, not only will capture unforgettable images of your special day, but also know all the things about creating an epic wedding day out in the wild if that’s what you want! Their work will be displayed in a photo gallery and they’ll be available to chat about your dreams and ideas.
